The leadership change places a 20-year Disney veteran in charge of its regional entertainment businesses, spanning streaming, studios, original content and consumer products across key Asian markets.
The Walt Disney Company has appointed Carol Choi as president of Asia Pacific, succeeding Luke Kang, who is retiring after 16 years with the company. Choi will assume the role on 1 December 2026, overseeing Disney Entertainment’s businesses across Greater China, Japan, South Korea, South-east Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Choi is currently Executive Vice-President of Disney’s Asia Pacific operations and has spent 20 years with the company, having led its regional studios business, original content strategy and integrated marketing, and previously served as Managing Director of Disney in Japan and South Korea, alongside senior leadership roles in Greater China. Her experience spans content development, marketing and business operations across several major regional markets.
Kang joined Disney in 2011 and oversaw regional business growth, including the launch of Disney+ and investment in original content. His departure follows a period of expansion across the company’s Asia Pacific operations. In September 2026, Disney also appointed Terry Tsai to lead direct-to-consumer marketing across the region, including Disney+’s regional marketing strategy and partner marketing operations.
In a joint statement, Disney Entertainment Studios chairman Alan Bergman and ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro described Choi as a leader with “broad operating experience, strong creative instincts, and a deep understanding of the region”. Her appointment signals continuity in regional leadership, with an established Disney executive taking on responsibility for its entertainment operations across Asia Pacific’s diverse markets.
